What to Donate

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Donations for either the kitchen or food pantry operations are gladly welcome year round. Elizabeth House accepts donations from anyone - individuals, religious organizations, civic/social organizations, restaurants, grocery stores and businesses.

Monetary Donations:

  • Checks - Please make checks payable to “FISH of Laurel, Inc.” or “Elizabeth House.” Click here for more information.
  • SHARE Project - For financial donations to benefit food pantry operations, please indicate - either on the memo line on your check or in a covering note or letter - that your donation should be used for the SHARE Project. This is a perfect way to stretch your donation to Elizabeth House. Donors can also buy groceries through the SHARE Project and donate them to Fish/Elizabeth House. Click here for more information.
  • Contribute through The Combined Federal Campaign/The United Way or Maryland Charitable Campaign. This charitable giving process permits donors to designate specific charities to receive their payroll-deduction contributions. To designate FISH of Laurel, Inc. - which manages Elizabeth House - to receive a contribution, click here for more information.

Food Donations:

Elizabeth House accepts fresh fruit and vegetables; dry or canned food for both kitchen and food pantry operations. All food donations are protected by the “Good Samaritan Law”.

  • All food must be wrapped and dated, unopened and not beyond the “use by” date printed on the product.
  • Prepared meals - bag lunches or dinners - are acceptable as long as they are wrapped and marked with the date when they were made.
  • When planning a food drive, please call ahead so that the food pantry coordinator can schedule volunteers to be at Elizabeth House to receive the donations.
  • Parking is available behind Elizabeth House. Enter via the driveway on the right side of the house.
  • Please, do not leave food on the front or back porch. Enter Elizabeth House and give food donations to a volunteer. To receive a receipt or acknowledgment, sign the food donation book in the kitchen and you will receive an acknowledgment in the mail.
  • By calling ahead, grocery stores and restaurants can arrange to donate fresh meat, vegetables, cheeses and prepared food. If the donor is unable to deliver, a volunteer can schedule a pick up date and time. Click here for more information.

Note: Because there is no storage space, donations of clothing, furniture, household items and toys are not accepted.
